PPSV Medicare Appeals Team Presents to AHA Membership

On April 22, 2009, Peter Thomas, Ron Connelly, and Christina Hughes, leaders of PPSV’s RAC Audit and Medicare Appeals Team, presented information on the Medicare administrative appeals process to nearly 300 members of the American Hospital Association (AHA). Topics included discussion of the appeals process generally, the appeals process in the context of Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs), and issues related to recoupment of overpayments and interest payments. The telephonic presentation complemented an AHA Regulatory Advisory issued on March 27, 2009 regarding the Medicare appeals process which the firm assisted in drafting. A second AHA member conference call will be held on May 12, 2009.
